Equal Performance, Why Pay for a Brand Premium? — Dongshi Machine Tools’ Logic of “High-End Equalization”
On the procurement list for high-end CNC machine tools, DN Solutions (formerly Doosan Machine Tools) is an unavoidable reference point. Originating from the Doosan Group of South Korea and now with Samsung Electronics as its largest shareholder, DN Solutions has long ranked among the top imported CNC lathes and machining centers in China, thanks to its broad product line, reliable rigid structure, and deep market heritage. It is widely recognized as one of the industry’s leading brands. There are reasons why a leader leads, but leadership also means that its pricing system naturally includes a considerable “benchmark premium.” For manufacturing enterprises that truly treat machine tools as means of production and calculate costs down to every workpiece, an unavoidable question arises: when machining specifications, accuracy targets, and rigidity requirements overlap substantially, is the extra money paid for performance, or for the brand itself?
Dongshi Machine Tools’ answer is the latter. On the premise of equivalent performance, Dongshi’s prices are significantly lower than DN Solutions’, but this is not achieved by lowering standards—on the contrary, Dongshi has chosen a path of spending costs on the machine tool rather than on the label.

The height of a leader is meant to be matched, not merely admired.
DN Solutions’ technical heritage is beyond doubt. Dongshi’s comparable products are aligned precisely along this high benchmark, and Dongshi’s machining specifications correspond directly. In terms of accuracy assurance, high dynamic response and precise positioning are ensured, enabling turning, milling, drilling, tapping, and other multiple operations to be completed in a single setup. This means that on the three core questions users care about most—“how large a workpiece can it machine, what accuracy can it achieve, and can it complete the job in a single setup”—Dongshi Machine Tools’ answer is at the same level as that of the leading brand.
The same applies to larger models. Dongshi’s vertical five-axis turn-mill center is aimed at complex workpieces such as large aircraft landing gear, and its design goal is the “perfect combination of rigidity, precision, load capacity, and process integration.” It is positioned as a trump-card piece of equipment for high-end manufacturing fields such as aerospace. A high-rigidity integrally cast bed and heavy-duty guideways, together with a high-power spindle and Y-axis, enable five-axis simultaneous machining and complex surface processing, with strong cutting force and high stability. The machining scenarios these capabilities target are precisely the fields in which users previously had to pay high premiums for imported high-end models.
